ACCOMMODATION & SATURDAY ACTIVITY SUGGESTIONS
A number of our out-of-town participants in recent years have used the B.A.D. Ride as a great opportunity to spend time in Ballarat. Come up on Saturday and visit the award-winning sights at Sovereign Hill Historical Park, the Gold Museum and the Eureka Centre.
Cycle around Lake Wendouree (6kms) and picnic in the Botanical Gardens; trawl the antique shops; cruise the coffee shop strip along Sturt St; crawl the old pubs, dine in fine style at the range of restaurants.
You could take a self-guided cycle tour.
A few suggestions follow but there are plenty of other options:

·         to local vineyards for a sip (various distances - usually medium, undulations)

·         for a taste of history with a goldfields tour including "Anderson's Mill" at Smeaton (50kms return – medium, undulations)

·         to Clunes (60kms return - medium undulations) to see for yourself why it was chosen as the perfect setting for a number of recent movies and TV programs. Stop in at the bakery for a nice bun, the milk bar for one of their famous ice creams or one of the pubs for a cold one. The Book Town weekend coincides with the BAD Ride.

·         to Daylesford (90kms return - hilly) for coffee, culture and "Convent Gallery".
